Fuerteventura is one of the Canary Islands and is the closest to the African coast, with only one hundred kilometres separating the Punta de la Entallada from Morocco. It is also the second largest after Tenerife.
There are some lovely beaches on Fuerteventura, which is the reason it is so successful as a holiday destination. The most famous area of the island is the village of Antigua; it is also the oldest. All the villages are home to a bustling tourist trade in which you can expect to find all the amenities you should require for a prolonged stay here. With ferry access for daytrips to Lanzarote, it is also an ideal starting point for exploring the other Canaries. The picturesque church, or the Cruz de los Caldos, is a particular highlight. Water sports such as windsurfing and scuba diving are particularly popular. |
