Girona is a charming city that lacks the bustle of some of Spain’s larger holiday escapes; it is a very negotiable city and it is well worth hiring a car during your time here. It is also close to Barcelona and enjoys a moderate temperature. This makes holidaying here a pleasure, all year round.
From the Old Town in the centre, you can walk through the charming streets leading to the beautiful walled areas of the town and the Gothic Cathedral. Girona has six museums which are well worth a look for visitors. The Arab Baths are particularly interesting for history enthusiasts, as well as the Jewish Quarter or the Call (as it is referred to in Catalan) which integrates styles from the eleventh through to the seventeenth centuries. Other points of interest include the Collegiate Church of Saint Feliu. From Girona, you can also enjoy some spectacular drives along the coastal road, and the town is located on the Autopista AP-7 route. |
