Close to the holiday idyll of Morocco, La Palma is thought to be one of the most beautiful of the Canary Islands and is a great spot for visiting Spain. It remains particularly attached to its roots; indeed, the municipal government has even restricted the building of a MacDonld’s on the island. Well connected from Tenerife and Gran Canaria, as well as mainland Spain, La Palma is a quiet alternative from the most bustling tourist metropolises. With so much abundant natural beauty, including the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, it is easy to lose several days here simply absorbing the beautiful landscape and volcanic beaches. There is also the opportunity to absorb some of the delicious traditional Canary Island cuisine.
Sailing and other watersports are relaxing alternatives on offer all over ‘The Beautiful Island’. With its fine colonial buildings, it is a picturesque city for walking tours; visitors can absorb the Church of El Salvador and the Plaza de Espana, which is home to the impressive Town Hall. |
