Mahon is the capital of Menorca and is referred to as Mao in Catalan. A gorgeous city to view all year round, it is particularly recommended for a visit between June and September. The many sites visitors can look at in Mahon include the beautiful Caves and the Museum of Menorca, as well as the St Francesco Church. It also offers many annual festivals, including the carnivals before Lent. The Marina area is particularly interesting, and offers a variety of amenities from bars to bistros.

The Punta Prima, which is a stunning stretch of beach, is also close to Mahon and offers some wonderful options for leisure activities, including windsurfing and sailing all year. Another great beach is the Es Grau, which is close by and situated within a short walk from a small fishing village; perfect for a day trip from Mahon.
