The inspiration for the classic Jean Rhys novel ‘Wild Saragossa Sea’, Zaragoza (as it is written in Spanish) is a charming city packed with history. Situated in Aragon, it enjoys expansive views of the river that runs through its heart, the Ebro. Some highlights of a trip here should include the River Port Museum, the Roman Forum and the Historical Centre; all of these give a great insight into the history of the city. A host of monuments dotted around, including the rich canvas of roman, Muslim and Jewish artefacts, mean that Zaragoza is great for walking around and embracing the local culture. The Old Town Square is one of the starting points for observing the city.
The Luis Bunuel Water Park is another particular highlight that will surely appeal to art lovers, and you can also check out the Santiago Bridge and the Pavillion Gateway Bridge for another flavour of Zaragoza’s history. |
