Appenzell is situated close to the Canton Appenzell Innerrhoden amongst some of the most gorgeous and diverse parts of the Swiss countryside. The area, which is well known for its strong heritage and traditional customs including the celebrated descent of the cattle in the autumn time, is particularly recommended for those interested in outdoors pursuits such as hiking and biking.
