Davos municipality is situated in the Davos Klosters mountain area, which comprises Davos – which is the highest located town in the whole of Europe – and Klosters, which is internationally known as a chalet town. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery and charming landscape, Davos has something for everyone and activities ranging from biking to hiking are on offer all year round. Davos is home to many indoor and outdoor skating rinks, sports centres, sled runs, and fantastic ski slopes. Originally, it was a health resort, with its high altitude and long hours of sunshine making it a great place for respite. Indeed, Robert Louis Stevenson completed Treasure Island here in 1882.
With so much fantastic landscape, mountain drives are sheer pleasure during which you can take in the mountains of Parsenn, Jakobshorn, Rinerhorn and Madrisa. These mountains are themselves also home to over seven hundred kilometres of trails and paths, providing a paradise for visitors. Recommended walking and hiking routes include the Hohorne Promenade and the Jakobshorn. Aside from these natural diversions you can also enjoy the casinos, restaurants and bars in the evening. Chalets provide for tranquil stopping places for all visitors, making it easy to soak up the idyllic surrounding landscape. |
