Emmenbrucke is situated in western Drenthe and is a developing town surrounded by quaint villages. Although not widely known as a tourist destination, Emmenbrucke has an ethereal charm that is sure to enrapture any visitor and the landscape surrounding it is largely untouched. The charming church and market square, court of law and post office are some of the landscapes that can be seen by exploring the town on foot.
The main activity for tourists visiting the area is hiking, with tours often going to close-by Emmensprung from the Schupfheim station. Should you choose to drive between the two towns, you will be treated to the views of the Kleine Emme River as well as the Waldemme River – both picture perfect examples of the Swiss countryside – which is also known as the Emmen Riverside Trail.
The city itself is home to an abundance of restaurants, bars and other amenities, all of which are peppered with the distinct charm for which the Swiss are internationally regarded. With a heavy Yugoslavian population, there is an interesting diversity here that is not prevalent in other parts of the country, which has, in turn, diversified many of the recreational options here. Car travel is also a joy here, given the terrific natural scenery |
