A small and pretty city with less than twenty-five thousand inhabitants, Frauenfeld is well situated for a short weekend break. The international Zurich-Kloten airport can also be easily accessed within thirty minutes drive and is also close to the Murg river, encompassing both the town itself and the surrounding areas of Langdorf, Kurzdorf, Huben, Herten, Horgenbach, Gerlikon, Zelgli and Schönenhof.
Traditionally a place of economic and social importance throughout the ages, Frauenfeld is the capital of the Thurgau province, it is located in the western part of the Canton and within easy driving access of Zurich, St. Gallen, Constance and Winterthur by the A1 and A7 roads. The castle is one of the main focal points for visitors to Frauenfeld and is one of the highlights of any stay here. Popular pass times for tourists include cycling and hiking through the lovely scenery that surrounds the town proper, particularly in the Thur valley.
