Interlaken is situated between Lakes Thun and Brienz and close to the Bernese Oberland and has proved a popular tourist destination for generations. It is a popular starting point for tourists of all interests. Some famous historical figures who have spent time here include Goethe and Mendelssohn. As an area of international importance with access to over forty-five mountain railways as well as cable cars, chair lifts and ski lifts. You can also check out the well known Bernese Oberland Railway in 1890 and the Jungfrau Railway for an interesting insight into the local culture. In addition, the waters of Thun provide for some excellent diversions in paddle boats.

Together with the neighbouring villages of Gsteigwiler and Saxeten, Wilderswil offers rural charm, unspoilt nature and a great range of excursion, hiking and sporting attractions. A visit to Wilderswil, which is the home of the local museum, is highly recommended and there you can view a variety of interesting arts and artifacts.
