Situated in the southeastern corner of Switzerland, the popular resort town of St. Moritz lies northeast of Lugano and is the highest point in the eastern Alps. In fact, Piz Bernina, which is the highest mountain in the Bernina range of the south Rhetic Alps is located just a few kilometers south of town, making this a favorite destination for travelers who wish to explore the region by rental car.
Inhabited since the Bronze Age and boasting more than 300 days of sunshine each year, St. Moritz is considered to be one of the most beautiful alpine villages in the region and offers a wide variety of activities, including skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, cycling and hiking, as well as the world renowned Cresta Run toboggan course. While here, consider checking out the Giovanni Segantini Museum, as well as the many scenic lookouts that afford stunning views of the surrounding glaciers. |
