Situated in south-central Switzerland southeast of Lausanne in the Rhone Valley, the entire small city of Visp has been designated a part of the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites. It is one of the most important historical regions in the country and is also known worldwide for its wine production. In addition, the old town is a popular tourist destination and the city itself is an excellent base from which travelers can easily explore the entire region by rental car.
Visp is home to a wide variety of modern amenities and holiday accommodations, including high quality hotels, apartments, mountain villas and camping sites. During the winter months, the region is a Mecca for avid skiers, but it is also a beautiful place to visit when the weather is warm. While here, consider planning an excursion to Visperterminen, which is a vineyard that lies at the highest altitude in all of Europe, or check out the area of Raron, which is home to fortified hilltop castles and a fabulous Baroque church |
