Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) is located just seven miles off the Venezuelan coast. It is renowned for its carnivals, so hire a car well in advance or else you will rely on taxi service during carnival week. Be sure to remember driving is on the left hand side of the road as well! Don’t miss the many hiking and cycling trails, waterfalls and limestone caves. You can also enjoy bird and turtle watching and water sports on the beaches.
Trinidad is a sailor's paradise and the best coastline for sailing is located on the northern end of the island, near its capital, Port of Spain.
Tobago, the smaller of the two islands is named after its prime source of income, tobacco. Adventure tours can have you diving with sharks and manta rays, or kayaking and cycling in the exceptional surroundings. There are two championship golf courses on the island and the sport fishing is some of the best in the world. The best months for fishing marlin (blue and white) are February, March and April but you can also catch swordfish, tuna, wahoo, barracuda and shark at any time of the year.
Trinidad and Tobago have had a turbulent history, but today they are one of the best places to sit back, relax and enjoy beautiful Mother Nature. |
