Situated in the East Midlands of England, Nottingham is famous for being the most centrally situated city in all of the country. The center of Nottingham is small and friendly, with most of its streets being pedestrianized. Within the center are three main shopping malls based around the Market Square or Slab Square as it is sometimes known. This square, is 22,000 square meters in dimension, is the traditional meeting place for shoppers and entertainment seekers alike, with a tall Clock Tower booming out the time every hour on the hour.
Adjoining the Market Square is the Lace Market, a great spot and renowned for its numerous bars and restaurants where most of the night life in the city takes place. Within the city walls is the Nottingham Castle and the exotically named Maid Marion Way. Nottingham Castle was originally built in the 17th century on the site of William the Conqueror's older castle.
For visitors to Nottingham who enjoy taking tours of the surrounding Midlans region, there is much to see and do. The famous Sherwood Forest is a short car journey away and there are famous historical sites all around that are worth visiting with the city being even in easy driving distance of the Peak District with its beautiful undulating hills.
