The community of Bagnolet is located in the eastern suburbs of Paris, France in the Île-de-France region, just over 5 kilometers from the city’s centre. Be sure to reserve a rental car for your visit here, in order to enjoy immediate, easy access to the large number of attractions located in the area.
Interestingly, Bagnolet was once home to the magnificent, 200-acre 17th century Château de Bagnolet, but most of the structure was destroyed in the 19th century. Today, the Hermitage is the only building that has survived from the original estate, and today it still boasts a number of magnificent paintings. In addition, this area is currently one of the most densely populated urban areas in all of Europe, and the Ourcq canal is also located here. Also of note, this area was long hailed as an agricultural centre, and until the 18th century was viewed as a garden and market village where citizens of Paris could shop and escape from the hustle and bustle of the capital. |
