A true maritime city, Cherbourg is located in the region of Normandy in France on the Cotentin Peninsula. The variety of terrain here is astounding, so be sure to rent a car and get out to explore it! The marina features room for 1350 boats to dock, while the sandy beaches are a favorite of locals and tourists alike. The coastline here is spectacular, as is the local aquarium, but be sure to head out to the east of town to check out the countryside in the Val de Seine area, as well as the Hague peninsula to the west.

The harbor here is historical, boasting a central dyke with three forts and a variety of walking tours. In addition, Notre Dame du Voeux, the ancient Saint Trinity Basilica and Saint Clement are three magnificent historical churches in Cherbourg that are open to visitors. Also in the harbour area, the ruins of a great castle hint at previous grandeur.
