The urban community of Créteil can be found on the Marne River in the southeastern suburbs of Paris, just over 11 kilometers from the city’s centre, in the Île-de-France region of France. It is the capital of the Val-de-Marne department and settlement here can be traced all the way back to the Neolithic-era. In fact, a two-ton, prehistoric polishing machine was found here, and on occasion rare flints from the Paleolithic age are still found in the area today!
Be sure to reserve a rental car for your visit to Créteil, in order to enjoy easy access to the many world-renowned attractions that are located throughout the region, including the Louvre, the Place de la Concorde, the Sacré-Cœur Basilica and the Galleries Lafayette department story – to name only a few! In addition, plan to spend some time relaxing at Créteil Lake, which began as a gypsum and gravel quarry, but today is a popular recreational area |
