The port town and marina of Macinaggio is located on the island of Corsica, just over 25 kilometers north of Erbalunga in the Corsica region of France on the Mediterranean Sea. It was officially established in the 17th century by the Genoese as an important trading centre, but has history that dates back to the 2nd century CE. Today it has become a popular tourist destination, thanks to the warm, sunny climate, modern marina and pristine beaches.
While visiting Macinaggio, be sure to sample the region’s wine, and take time to walk the Le Sentier des Douaniers footpath, which leads adventuresome travelers past a variety of hidden caves and immaculate white sand beaches. Also of note, the Baie de Tamarone is nearby and offers an excellent place to snorkel or dive. In addition, keep your eyes open for the many ancient Genoese towers that are located throughout the area, particularly the Torra d’Agnellu and the Torra di Roglianu – which were both built in the 16th century. |
