Situated only 15.2 kilometers from the centre of Paris in the Ile de France region of the country, the town of Noisy Le Grand is one of four sections in the ‘new town’ of Marne-la-Vallee. Noisy Le Grand was named for the many walnut trees (in French, noyers) that covered the area during ancient times, while ‘le Grand’ was first introduced during the Middle Ages. In fact, the town’s existence can be traced all the way back to the 5th century CE and is home to a variety of popular historic places and stunning modern architecture. While here, be sure to visit the 18th century City Hall, the 14th century Cross Cemetery and the ultra-modern Les Arenes de Picasso.
