The town of Pont-à-Mousson can be found in the Lorraine region of northeastern France to the south of Metz and to the east of Chalons-en-Champagne. Although it is mainly a centre for the steel industry today, several fine historical attractions make this a perfect place to stop on any scenic road trip through the region!
Pont-à-Mousson is beautifully situated on the Moselle River, which flows through France and on into Luxembourg and Germany. While here, be sure to visit the stunning 18th century Premonstratensian abbey, which stands sentry overlooking the river. Also of note, the region is the only one in all of France to border three other countries (Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany) and it is also world renowned for its cuisine. Don’t leave from your trip without sampling the Quiche Lorraine, as well as the Breux potato and the various smoked meats that are common to the region. |
